I am going to tell the story first so everybody can call me an idiot, and then hopefully help me out.:D
Well I was playing basketball with some friends for about 45 mins.  The car was off but I had it on acc. so we could listen to music.   I have a new system in the car. (Oh and by the way it is a Hyundai Accent GS 2002.)

Volfenhag  2000 Watt Amp.  2 omh stero
{2} 12" 1000 watt Volfenhag subs
Custom box ported.

Well I was getting ready to leave and when I was walking back to the car the bass starting hitting really weird and way off beat.  So first thing I check is the amp to see if it was alright.  And it was super hot.  So I go to the hood and take out the fuse so it dont anymore power to it so it would cool off.  I get in the car, try and turn the car on and it wouldnt start.:(  Well we call a buddy to come up and jump me,  he tells me he will be up soon.  And I are sitting there for about 10-15 mins and I try to start it again. And it started.  I am so glad it started.....:^:

So the main thing I am trying to ask is if there is anyway to not run the battary down so fast.  Because I am sure we are going to need a new battary soon because of my stupidity.  Oh and another thing when the bass hits and I have my headlights on it dims.  So if I could get any help on that too it would be nice.  But for right now I am mainly worried about making sure my car will start everytime that I want to go somewhere.  One more thing.  I have the power running to the battary if that helps any............

And to make things worse this isnt my real car is it sorta the family car and if my grandma finds out about this I am screwed...........xx(

your battery should be fine. theres not much you can to keep the battery charged wile the car isoff and playing music. a second battery will give you longer play time. if you lights dim with your system on. turn it down or get a higher amp alternater.

an alternator is what keeps the battery charged. wile the car is running. (it's under the hood of the car) with out it your car would only drive for a few miles even less with headlights on and radio, heater, ac........ it runs off of the fan belts oem alts are a silverish color.

So you are just trying to say dont worry to much about it or what???

The alternator is whats causing your lights to dim.  Well it's because the alternator isn't strong enough.  Most stock alternators can't sustain high power systems so the lights dim.  This occurs because the alternator can't keep the battery charged which results in the amplifier taking power from your lights and other accessories in your car.  You need to buy a high out alternator.  To fix your battery difficulty if you are really that worried then get an aftermarket deep cycle battery.

That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

my suggestion is to get better gauge wiring installed , if u dont already do say a 0 gauge from the + side of the battery to a distribution box, if u want , buy an alternator that hits u a 180 amps, so i was told. cost  $400 again i was told, holds 180 amps on idle. wow. but u can get a second battery and/or get a 1 farrod power capacitor installed professionally in the car. it helps. helps the battery and one more thing, never ever start your car while the head unit and amps ar on or running. it ****s up the amps power supply.

Quick, call the nurse. Give it a shot of EPI, 5ml, stat. Does it have a rhthym?, No, take the defibrilators to it. Shock it, full output, clear. Still nothing? Maybe one of the battery specialist will take over.

Your alternator is what operates the entire ball o wax when it comes to your car. Your battery is charged by the alternator. The car must be running for the alternator to operate. Extended time operating the stereo without the car running or even running the system in a short burst at a high volume will drain the battery until a point that the car will not start and the audio system will suffer.

Not to hate on your equipment, but post the model #'s of your amps and subs as my suspicions are that they are a far cry from the power that they are claiming to be. They are also not German in any way, shape or form. Read the grounding sticky at the top of the forum, it will help you to understand alot more about your system and how it operates in general.

Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.

That's nothing compared to how grandma will react when she finds out you put Volfenhags in her car!

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

An alternator doesn't just keep a charge on the battery, it powers all of your electronics in the vehicle.  The only purpose  for the battery is to start the vehicle and to power whatever you may be using while the vehicle is off.

That is when the vehicle is off.  When the vehicle running the battery does nothing.
