I know this topic was partially discussed in the past.  I have a few questions though.  Which material do you prefer, be it a metal or silk/cloth, for your tweeter and why do you like it?  Can you also tell me what type of music you would play with each type of tweeter?  I know it is a personal preference, but I just want to here what people have to say.

I prefer silk or soft dome tweeters to metal dome tweeters. I had metal dome tweeters for a little while and felt they were too shrill. I think they were a little louder though. In my sitiuation the location of the tweeters did not compliment metal dome tweeters. I listen to a lot of rock, rap, some jazz, and recently am talk radio.

There are positives and negatives to both types. And you are right it is a personal preference. There are other varibles too that may make one type more desirable though.

i like metal. but some do sound shrill/overly bright. silk seam to soft to me. the best metal dome tweeters were old fultrons i bought new in 1994. i used the supplied 12 db x-over and a alpine 3653 active x-over. which i still use.posted_image

and the type of music i listen thru them was rock /hard rock.
