Subject: 2 Power Wires?

I have a 1985 Cutlass Supreme and I am running a Kicker zr600 for my subs and an Eclipse 4-chanel for my mids and highs.  I was told by a local installer that I needed to run two power wires to power the amps.

Is this true?

Any insight would be helpful.

Thanks,

FUNK

run one 4 awg wire back to a distribution block, then 8 awg from block to each amp.

I have a 1986 Cutlass Supreme and I was told that I need to run two wires to power two amps.  I have a Kicker zr600 to power my amps and an Eclipse 4-chanel to power my mids and highs.

Does anyone else have any ideas about this?

Thanks,

FUNK

Yes, follow the advice you were given as well as read the grounding sticky as it will apply to you. Look at the fuse values combined of both amps. If it is above 90 amps, consider going to a 2 gauge power line and then to a distribution block, split to a 8 gauge to the Eclipse amp and a 4 gauge to the Kicker amp.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Sorry about that.  It was my first post and my finger slipped.  It happens......

Anyway.  I got things to work with 2 power wires.  I was just wondering about how efficient it would be.

Thanks for the input.

I find this funny, in the "why did you even bother to ask this question if you were just goign to do what you were goign to do anyways" way...
