Hey everyone..new here..hopefully I can figure this out with your help..

My friend and I just installed a new cd player into my 88 camry.. its a JVC - we got it to work fine except for one flaw.. the green illumination wire was required to be tied with the battery constant power wire in order to work- it works of course, but only when the lights turn on.. we tried putting it to the ignition power instead, that did not work. it was weird because without tying the green illumination wire to the constant power, my clock would not work unless the lights were turned on..if anyone can help out please let me know!
