I have a pioneer deh-235 and when you first start the car it runs fine but after about five minutes the radio and cd player cuts in and out, power to the head unit stays but no sound comes out. i was told to make sure all the connections were good and to check my fuse, so i re-connected all the wiring just in case and replaced the fuse but it still does it, why?

test your speaker leads. make sure none of them are grounding.

yes, shorted speaker wire or maybe too low an impedance load on the amplifier channels.  What are the speakers this is connected to?  It is also possible the HU is simply shutting down due to overheating.  Could be a factory defect.

Yea you need to check for grounding.  Never exclude the idea that the product isn't defective.  No company is perfect.  After all we are just human.

That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

check the back of the plug on the radio they have a tendency to to fail as in the wires pull out a bit and a. either ground out or b. the radio cuts in and out from the wire moving in and out in the plug thats what happened on my truck i had to buy a new plug that goes into the back of the head unit but check the other possibilities listed above as well all are poosibiliries just check each one at a time and take yout time youll find it but they are all possible
