Will one 12" Alpine Type R (300 watt rms) hit harder than two 12" Legacy subs (250 watt rms) ?

Harder probably not much if any, however the type R will sound better by far.

Both can be improved upon by a lot though.

The type R's are 500wrms. Or do you mean you're only gonna feed it 300wrms?

But yes, the Alpine will sound 10x better than those Legacy's. You'll be impressed with the difference.
