Well I may have finally decided on what to get.

2 12'' RE XXX (Dual 2ohm) with a Crossfire VR1000D or 2000D...

question is. what type of amps do you guys recommend? you can order the subs in what ohm dependance you want so.. throw me some ideas for those subs and with amps. not really for comp. just for good ole' music.

should i go with the RE amp?

6.0cubic ft box sound about right?

Get the VR2000D and get 2 dual 4 ohm xxx's, or 2 VR1000D's and 2 dual 2ohm xxx's, , i would go for the VR2000D route, more efficient, less cost, and it just looks too cool being so massive.

As for the box definately go ported to RE's specs, but be shure to make the box 2 separate cambers, don't cut corners on this set up.

Oh and ALTERNATOR, its a MUST!  trust me, i know..the amp puts out crap all with a stock alternator since its so power hungry.

only problem, we tested the 2000d vs 2 1000d's strapped, and the 1000d's won the match hands down, if you can provide the current

what type of current are we talkin? what size of alt. ..extra battery is a must probably.  hmmm what to decide now.. this car probably wont be for competition so keep that in mind. but providing enough juice is always a must for me. like alpine guy said... cheaper to go the 2D route. i believe. ebay maybe?

Whell, personally what i have done with all my vehicles is first buy the biggest alternator you can fit/afford.  Then build up your system from there.  E-mail this guy about what he has for your vehicle  https://stores.ebay.com/Iraggi-Alternator-and-Electronics_W0QQssPageNameZviQ3asibQ3astoreviewQQtZkm  , i just got a 180 amp alternator from him, arrived yesturday, took 28 days to get it, but it was a custom build for a small case alternator, a chevy alternator should be cheaper and easier to find for you.

i have a great person to get alternators from.  my pops is a mechanic for this business so i can get the alternator at cost but i will still check into that guy on ebay to see what kind of price he will give me with shipping. after i get the alternator then what?  Its hard to decide on an amp. What quailties should i look at when looking at the specs?

Save yourself a crap load of money.  We just finished a car we RE subs and Crossfire 1000d.  You'll get more sound out of the new Cerwin Vega VMax and USAmp MD1.  With the money you save, you can do mid, and take the girlfreind out for dinner.

I really dont see the problem with crossfire 1000d's and RE subs.        But for 2 crossfire 1000d's I would go with 2 or 3 SX series subs.

I have seen plenty of crossfire/RE combo's this year, and all of them did quite well

There more SPL orientated than the XXX, but still has a great SQ department.

That's odd that they would be more spl oriented.

so 2 sx's would have louder spl scores than 2 xxx's? that's with 2 vr-1000d

say i do go with the sx's, any amp suggestions?  or just stick to the two vr-1d's ?

how come someone said something about going with 2 vr-1d's instead of one vr-2d. i saw a spec on the two..

vr-1 1000wrms - 1ohm

vr-2 2000- at 2ohms..

anyways.. someone explain that? and still need suggestions on amps for those subs.

I have tested both amps, the 1000d and 2000d.   the 1000d's are more efficent by themselves, and strapped will produce more power then the 2000d

the 2000d did 2200rms at 2 ohm at 14.6

the 2 1000d's did 2600rms at 2ohm at 14.6

the 2000d will draw 230-240amps at 2 ohm

the 1000d's draw 120-130 at 1 ohm and 250 at 2 ohm strapped

We ran ours on a upgraded alt, 160amp at idle.    and a kenetik 2400 power cell, no problems.

let me know if you need any more info on these amps or you are looking for either I know I have the 1000d's and know some people who have the 2000 and 4000 d's
