i recently got a 93 pontiac grand am, and was trying to put my old stereo, a pioneer deh-p4700mp. im pretty sure i have the wiring right, it powers on and everything, but there is no sound coming out of any of the speakers. i can't plug the antenna in becuase it has the small antenna plug while the stereo has the bigger antenna plug inlet. would that make a difference? im using this diagram for the wiring, the one on the bottom. now would me not plugging in the antenna wire for some reason make sound not come out? any help or ideas would be nice. thanks.

I'd check to see if one of your speakers is grounded out. The amps in aftermarket headunits will shut down if one of the speakers is grounded out. Are you using a harness, or did you lop off the factory plug and wire up directly? As for the antenna; you just need an adapter, about $12 at any car stereo shop.

i wire'd it up directly, no harness. ive done that in my past two cars no problem. ill check on the speakers tomorrow, if i cant get it to work i'll just rewire them, but i really dont want to have to do that. they all worked with the factory stereo, so i dont know. i dont care about the antenna, i never listen to the radio... but leaving that unplugged wouldnt matter would it?

leaving the ant. unplugged won't affect the rest of the HU. Double check all your wiring behind the radio; make sure there are no bare wires on any of your speaker leads; and that they're all connected to the proper wires. If that's all in order I'd go on to checking each speaker individually.

If you have a pink wire but no power antenna, it's probably for a factory amp somewhere. Try jumping power to it using a test light and see if you get sound then.
