Alpine Type R Questions

Ok i have a few questions on the Alpine Type R. I have a JBL Bp 600.1 amp that i want to use the power one 12" Type R, later i want to add another 12". The subs will be going in a custom fiberglass enclosure that will be 1 Cu/Ft for each sub. My question is will the subs be ok with only 300W each? I'm going for a SQL type setup, leaning to SPL a more than SQ.

Also i'm thinking i need the 2Ohm DVC, so i can wire the one series and get a 4Ohm load. Than when i get the other sub i would wire each sub in series then parallel to get 2Ohm and the full 600W.

its not enough power.i have about 950 watts into 2 r's and they will take more i put 800 into 1 sub and it was intence for one sub.best bet get 2 of the amps and run each @ 2 ohms. the sq from the subs is good .hope this helps

Welll... I think a JBL 600.1 is more than adequete for that particular woofer... I think you need to look alot more at your enclosure than at your amp..

Yea your thinking on the wiring is right on. Two 2-ohm DVC subs will wire to 2-ohms @ the amp.

Now, here's the rub.. that amp is more than fine for those subs... but not in that enclosure. Strickly speaking, if you intend any sort of install "leaning toward SPL" but then plan on barely 1cft per 12?! Come on man you need to bring that up substantially.. You'd be *much* better off with a 3 cft enclosure ... vented, of course, to.. a round 35hz... you'd get *much* more out of an enclosure like that than increasing your power like 20%/sub. Acoustically speaking, that doesn't really do anything anyway.

Re-evaluate your 'custom-fiberglass box' ... far and away ur best bet.

I was just going on what alpine says which is 1 Cu/Ft each sub. I know they can handle more then 300 each. But i'm trying to keep it cheap. I have the amp and i planed on buying one sub at a time. As for ported i've pretty much ruled that out cause i'm trying to save space. I do know that using a sealed box it takes more power to reach full excursion, but i'd like to not have to buy another amp to run them sealed.

One question are you talking 3 Cu/Ft each sub ported or 3 total? Cause i might be able to fit a 3 Cu/Ft box. Not slot ported of course cause i'm using fiberglass.

Haha yea man 3cft *total*.. that really isn't all that much bigger than a 2cft once all is said and built.

I mean, I always use 2 or 3" ports.. PVC pipe is my pick but I never do custom fiberglass stuff. More of a classic-clean MDF man myself. Still, ports are easy to construct in fiberglass and you'd have a myriad of options to do it that would sound good....

You really oughta explore getting that box size up man I'm tell'n ya...!
