Does the remote wire come from behind the deck and what purpose does it serve. Also, where is a good place to ground a wire in an F-150

A remote wire is used for a power antenna or a remote turn on wire for an external amplifier. Yes it comes from the deck. As far as a ground goes it kinda depends what you are grounding.

ok if you dont have an aftermarket deck then you dont have a remote wire. if you do then it is usealy a blue wire.

a remote wire has a current that is turned on and off when the deck is turned on and off. the purpose it surves is to turn on and off a amp or some other devise that needs a current to run to a sencer inside the unit to tell the devise to turn on. it is called or refured to as a remote turn on wire. it is kind of like your tv and your remote you use the remote to tell the tv to start useing the power souce it is give to turn on. the same thing for an amp and the deck, the amp has a power wire that comes from the battery to the amp + wire and then there is a wire that comes from the deck to turn on the amp at the same time the deck turns on. if you did not have that remote wire and you used a +12v source from some part of the car. then the amp would be on all the time.

as for a good place to ground a wire it depends on were the wire is that you want to ground if it is an amp ground then you would ground it to the floor panal. hope this helps posted_image
