Just One lil ole 10’’ inch Sub

which one? I am down to a set of RCA cables and a 10 " sub (will make the enclosure myself)to complete my system...so let me ask you...if you had an amp that supplied 300 wrms and you wanted just one lil 10 inch sub in a sealed enclosure that would really take a beating all day and sound great playing rock and roll..what would you pick?

the subwoofer I need is a 4ohm impedance

100 dollars give or take, maximum of 150.00

 BTW I did take you up on the good info I saw you offer someone else and ordered some 4 gauge wire and two distribution blocks from Knuconcepts, great prices and the order was here in three days. the wire is great quality!

I am sure now this sub will work great. It is just what I was looking for, I knew I'd know it when I found it

I still don't understand half of what I know, the manual for my amp states in Bold Lettering..."IF YOU WISH TO BRIDGE CONNECT A SPEAKER,THE IMPEDANCE MUST BE NO LESS THAN 4 OHMS. CONNECTING A SPEAKER WITH AN IMPEDANCE LOWER THAN 4 OHMS MAY DAMAGE THE UNIT" 

 I don't know why yet what is lower than four ohm's is still confusing to me. basically I understand if I wire the JL audio dual 2 ohm sub like it said to in the pdf file you gave me, then the amp I have will recognize it as a 4ohm speaker, so it will all be good . right?

     I was wondering why it said NOT to connect a 2ohm speaker to it once I bridged the amp, when they also said it was 2 ohm stable..now I understand.

 let me see, so if i bridge the amp, then i have to connect a 4 ohm load...check!

what if I have the amp in stereo, and connect a two ohm load to each channel? for instance what if i just wire  the 2ohm DVC JL sub in stereo that way, not that i will hookit up that way, yet my amp says 2x150 @2 ohms ,2X100 @ 4 ohms., 1X300 bridged, so it will be the same thing?

lastly...I am sold on that JL Sub, yet I am curious because...

I read that there is really no difference in a SVC and a DVC sub ( when it comes to using only one sub) they make a sub with a DVC for more flexibility in hooking up multiple Subs, so wouldn't it be no different in "quality of sound" to just buy a 4 ohm SVC sub and bridge the amp?Instead of bridging the amp ,then wiring the DVC in series.

Ok On the JL audio 10w3v2-d2 woofer I am looking it says in the pdf file that I should NOT Use a PASSIVE crossover on this sub for to do so will aversely effect the SUB's performance.
 so uhhhh...what kind of crossover is in my amp?

(if I have it right active is crossed over before amplification and passive is crossed over after the signal is amplified)

I checked out your amp at the URL (crutchfield site). You won't need a passive x-over. The amp's internal active electronic x-over will work fine. Adding any kind of passive x-over will just add power-robbing components to the load, and it just needlessly adds more stuff to go wrong.

Also, the amp's specs are referring to 2 ohm stability when using two channels, as in L & R subwoofers (or dual 4 ohm DVC's wired in parallel [say that three times real fast]), not in a bridged mode, single channel with one subwoofer. The amp is not designed for a 2 ohm load in bridged mode.

Keep it simple. Go with the SVC 4 ohm, and bridge your amp and use the amp's lowpass x-over.

I think I already know the answer to this question yet I am going to ask it anyway because I don't know for sure the BEST way to connect this speaker in series...I am thinking that I should just use the same 12 gauge speaker wire that I am using to connect speakers to the amp...I just solder a short piece from one terminal on sub to the other appropriate terminal on sub...???am I right...dum question huh

I am either going to buy the JL Audio's 10w3v2 or their 10w3 ,it all depends on how good a deal I can find...I found a 10w3v2 on ebay for $70 not including shipping yet it is used and I just don't know about it...for piece of mind I think I'll pay more for a new one.

Im not trying to knock JL subs, prior to buying my second vehicle I was running two JL 12W6 and yeah they sounded good in the lowest frequencies but they lacked the get up and go to keep up with fast music, even some rap tunes they just weren't quite enough...My suggestion is to try an Alpine Type R Subwoofer, I now own a 15" and two 10" type Rs and ive never been happier.   Also bang for buck try Nackamichi, very smooth and deep

The 15" is in a sealed enclosure and the two 10" are in separate ported boxes.  The 15 up front firing forward and the 10s on either side of the trunk firing at the rear hatch.

JL 12W6 were in a ported box with no baffle
