I think my truck has a factory amp. And i wanted to swap out the headunit. I tried this and got power to the headunit but no sound. I even tried connecting the amp turn on wire and still no sound. HELP PLEASE! What am i doing wrong?

Yes. This truck does have a factory amp (under drivers seat).
Im assuming you used a wiring harness? If so, you should be able to connect the remote turn on lead from the new head unit, to the amp turn on wire on the harness.. and it should work. Ive never had a problem with one not working before.
Unless (1) the output of your radio was not working before.. in which case the amplifier could have blown something internal.
or
(2) you cut the wiring harness, accidently grounded the constant 12V or ignition wire (which would cause the HU not to come on though).

I just researched a LITTLE..
If you have the 4Dr. model, it should have the amp under the drivers seat.
If you have the 2Dr. model, having an external amp is not likely.

well its a 4 door model and the factory unit dose this:::: when i turn up da volume it goes down and when i turn the volume down it goes up;; and the goes up and down very quickly when u try to change the volume also..do u think the amp is bad? can i add a aftermarket amp and wire it to the factory speakers? and yes when i connected the remote turn on --u can hear like a pop noise but absolutely no sound--what u think is going on?

No need to add an amp. Just take your factory amp out of the equation. You can run new speaker wire from your new deck to the factory amp. There you can connect all the speakers.

Why run new wires?
There are already wires that run from the stock HU to the amp. All you have to do is take the amp out and run jumper wires from the input side of the amp to the output wiring; then you have a direct connection from the HU to the speakers. Just be sure to connect the wires correctly (in correct phase, and match the correct input and output wires so your fade and balance work correctly).

You could do that, but it's usually simpler and quicker to just run them- it doesn't take long at all. By the time you have all the wire colors, I could have it wired up and working.

Heh, if you say so. In the 10 minutes it takes for you to run the wires, I could have made my 6" jumpers and be done.
Ive done about 3 of these, the last 2 took about 5 minutes.

the wire colors that are on this site are they gonna be the same on both sides of the factory amp? is there a bypass harness that i can buy?

It's not going to take 10 minutes to run wires in a Tahoe. However, you're right- if you know the colors, jumpering at the amp would be quicker. I've never bothered with it.
