Subject: Bandpass Box Trouble

I have a bandpass box with the ports located behind the wall that the subs are mounted too.  This box is for 2 12's.  I cant get the plexiglass to stop rattling.  It even rattles when the bass isnt blasting.  I have tried putting weatherstripping behind it and no results.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like a poorly made enclosure.  Did you buy this thing?  Take it back.  If you want to fix it, is the plexi screwed in place?  You may need more screws.  You may need to use silicone rubber cement (or similar) to seal the plexi panel in place.

thats why it rattles. flea market + good deals = junk,  they are teaching that in kindergarten these days.

Yep.  And just because it says "MTX" does not mean it IS "MTX."  Lots of counterfeit junk out there these days and logos, brand names, etc. are easy to have printed.  Always buy from authorized dealers!

g-man, relax.  If you read the whole thread you will see he got some good advice.  Then he said the magic words, "flea market."  Anyone who buys electronic equipment of any kind at flea markets and expects it to be genuine, quality gear is fooling themselves.  This was being pointed out.

No, if you buy something at a flea market and expect it to be genuine, your education may indeed be below standard.  That's what we're doing: educating people about wasting their money on useless crap.  No one was insulted or flamed until you came along and now you are apparently calling me ignorant.  While I will readily admit ignorance about some things, the fact that flea markets are full of useless crap is not one of them.

Here's my ruling:  unless YOU are currently enrolled in kindergarten, per the qualifying sentence structure of the aforementioned post - "...these days...", then the slight cannot pertain either to YOU or to the original author of the thread.  YOU is defined as anyone reading this thread.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

If it is broken you can fix it, except if you blow it up. But in your case i think it is fixable. if you can post a pic then we sould be able help you. And i realy dont care if it is from the fle market, and it has a little problem then you can fix it.

Im going to try and help right now without a pic. First you have to make sure that it is the plexiglass, wans you have figured that out then you can begin fixing. If it is gust the plexyglass then gust take the hole pieace of plexy out and replace it. Use a sealent to secure it to the mdf. You sould also use scrows to keep it there. I really cant help you without a pic, if you dont have a digetal cam at your disposile then if you could explan your box and the problem to a T then that would be realy helpful. posted_image

It is an MTX box because i have checked with the dealer so this goes back to the question that i asked, is there anything I can do to get this MTX BOX to stop rattling.  If not then i will trash it because of course its only a box I bought at the flee market.

Sorry about that yougone i see that you were trying to help me and i will take your advice.  I see that other people are too worried about making fun of people because they know everything about car audio and can make fun of others who are tryin to learn.  Thanks for your help for the ones who want to help all the rest of you who dont want to help just save your time typing and dont reply.

If you read my first post you'll see my suggestions.  And you need to chill out too, chevyz71.  If you don't want advice (including things like don't buy equipment at flea markets that you want to be quality, sorry but it is the truth) then don't ask.
