Ok im looking at a set of splits and i want an opinion the choice is between the Pioneer TS-C160R and the Alpine Type R SPR-17LS.  Both are 6-1/2 inch componet sets.  The price dosnt bother me, but do u think one will perform better then the other?  For performance my bet is on the Alpines but i may be wrong..............

i personally have 2 sets of the spr-17ls components in my doors and i think they sound great!!!!! i haven't heard the pioneers.. but i would recommend the alpines but they take some power to push and make sound good... if ur not worried about price why not check out a set of jl audio XR 6.5 copmonents..

AS much as I like Pioneer's head units, after listening to my friend's Pioneer AND then some Alpine speakers afterwards.... I would say go with the Alpine for higher sound quality.

I would def. not limit myself to just these two, but that all depends on your budget of course.

Personally, my ears do not like either set and I sell one of them. We all hear different, buy what your ears like.

Make sure you have room for the R series Alpines. They have very over sized magnets.
