Installing a system with JL Audio 1000/1 and 450/4 amps and my JL rep says not to use a capacitor,,,I'm a little new to multi amp systems and would like to know what you guys would do. I think I would cap it but if it is not necessary or will make a diffrence then I'll leave it out...Thanks,,,,

I would agree, not necessary.

Leave the cap out. If you have low voltage problems such as dimming lights, get a quality high output alternator and good battery to go along with it.

Capacitor is only used when the base starts hitting real hard and your lights start dimming. If they always dim with it on its time for an new alternator/battery.

never ever need a cap unless ur gonna just hit one huge bass note every 10 seconds. a decent battery and HO alternator will take care of everything.

Q: Cap or not? A: not ------------- Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Get a high output alt at least 250amps, a good batt, and upgrade the wire. if you like a cap go ahead it will not hurt. They do "look" cool. Do they help? Well that's a debate I will not worry about now. If you do those other things you'll be fine ------------- Big Dave
