I need someone to tell me what size amp would be the best for my subs. I have two 10 inch kenwood typhoons. They are rated at 700 watts a piece and are 4 ohms. Thanks

what rms are your subs and what load are you looking for 1 ohm,2ohm,4ohm? mtx, alpine, and even hifonics is okay.     here is a list of car audio web sites check it out and ask about them.

Stereo click on this and see if this helps it for a 2002 explorer not the sport-trac pick-up but see if they match.   and just to make things easier for you. post all your questions in one post.posted_image

Thats max rating. I dont remember what RMS on them is off the top of my head. I recall building a box for a pair of 10s like 4 years ago. I want to guess RMS to be around 300W.

kory - find an amp that does about 500-600W RMS.. assuming you meant they are SVC 4-ohm, you need to find something that does that output power at a 2-ohm load.. allowing you to run them bridged.

I have an 02 sport trac, the only possible way to get my 10in subs in is, there is an enclosed storage spce behind my rear seats, they barely fit but it would work. The only problem is that they wont be totally enclosed, what will this do to the sound? should I try to rig a way to totally enclose them?

I see a  number of problems here. Subs are almost always desinged to be in an enclosure built to spec. Either sealed, ported, or a variance of the ported style.

Simply putting a sub in a storage unit is not going to produce any thing good, especially if the sub is hanging out. Another issue here is that more than likely that storage bin is made of plastic. How do you think a sub is going to sound in a flimsy plastic enclosure that doesn't entirely fit it??

Take heed to the above advice about proper enclosures. Either get a prefab. or a custom built one.

Before I drove my Sportrac into a 20 ton boulder at 50 mph ( hey it wasn't my fault ) I made a custom fiberglass box under the passenger rear seat. It was .8 cu ft. and housed a single 10" JL W3V2 and with 500 RMS this upward firing box sounded great. The storage area behind the rear seat is good for amp mounting. The impact from the accident was so great that it broke the screws that held the woofer in the box!
