The Pioneer DEH-P8MP or the Pioneer DEH-P9600MP?
The P8MP is 6.5v and the 9600 is 4v. I know the P8MP would have more power, but I really love the looks of the 9600 more, but do alot of people have problems with motorized faceplates? Both are motorized, but the 9600 slides down and I'm thinking that wouldn't last too long without having problems.
Will there be much of a sound difference between those?
Which one should I go with for better sq?
If price isn't an issue, the 9600mp would be my choice. It has a 24 bit burr brown DAC.
The other model is a premier, so a two year warranty is provided.

I don't know anything much about headunits, but what is the 24 bit burr brown DAC?
thanks

This will offer some very detailed reading, but I will put it very simply. The higher the bit sampling the better. You will find that almost all high end decks will have 20-24 bit DACs. Mcintosh, Clarion (mcintsoh made), Naks, Denofrds, etc.
To me this is a huge factor in my choice of decks. Pre amp voltage is important as well, but if doesn't sound good to begin with, why bother having high pre amp levels at all.

Thanks for the link dwarren.
My first post, I meant to say the "P960MP" which is also a Premier, and has 6.5 volts as well. I was looking at the wrong one, so my bad. Does the P960MP have the 24 bit DAC's?
Or would the P9600MP be better than the P60MP?
thanks again.
The 960mp has a 24 bit DAC as well as the two year warranty.
I prefer the look of the 8600 or 860mp which has the 24 bit DAC
Premier models generally have the new tech, then it filters down to the regular models with in a year or so. You are paying the $20 difference for a two warranty.
