i was curious as to how  the resonant audio re10 compares to the jl audio 10w3 d2? would the re's be better  as far as sound quality and/or spl? i currently own the jl's and was considering buying the re's.

this is from hear say..  depending on your setup.. the re type SX would be louder at a higher Hz than a w7.  i've heard JL has RE beat on SQ. i will find out in a couple weeks when i get my two 12'' RE Sx's.

JL W7 is an overrated speaker in my opinion. JL as a whole has proven to be a pretty good product line. I know JL is a nice sub when it comes to SQ. I haven't heard the RE's. They aren't sold in my area that I know of.

Just curious, why do you think the W7 is over rated?

if you have them in local shops you ca'nt get them at the group buy pricing.

but the SX line is a SPL sub. the W7 is compared to the XXX... i've only heard the W7's and i love them, would buy if i had the money :D But the W3's should be better than the RE series, but i could be wrong.. I was told that my JL 13w1v2 would probably out preform a RE12.

oh, and the W7 and XXX subs are SQ subs, not SPL. (they just get loud while sounding good)

what do you mean '

i've heard from people that the sx or the xxx will beat the w7.. xxx needs a lot of power to push also.. anyways.. dinner time

I still do not know what this means! Why do people continue to type things like this? They will beat the W7 how??? Otherwise this is a very misleading statement that is more opinion than fact. Not that opinions are bad, but it would be nice to know what those opinions are based on...

Too bad for them, eh? posted_image

If a person is going to make a statement such as "brand 'X' beat brand 'Z'", for those people who have never owned or auditioned brand 'X' or brand 'Z' or either one, they're going to have more questions than they have answers, true? How do they compare? What makes you say that X beats Z? How much does each cost? Is the cost worth the expenditure? What is the displacement on both? And on and on.

I like JL Audio, I'm sure that much is evident. Although I'm not currently in the market to replace my current setup, I am FAR more likely to want to explore other brands if I have too much information on those brands versus too little. Or no information whatsoever other than a name and a "this brand beat that brand." And I think there are others who think this way as well.

Make sense? Or is the "koolade" to strong? posted_image

See my follow-up post preceeding this. Sorry, didn't mean to make you feel like you were being flamed, just trying to make things clearer for myself and others.

I've never "heard" anything from RE other than what I read on this forum. So I've not been inclined to go seek them out based on statements such as "I hear the XXX beat the W7." That's just the way I do things. I want more information that I can base a solid opinion on, so when I go to replace my subs once they fail for whatever reason, I can either stick with what I've always known and be a "brand loyal" kind of guy, or I can branch out and try something new that I may end up liking better. posted_image
