I have to power rockford amps. T8002 and T8004.
Rockford rates their amps at what? 14.1v or 2?
Either way, i have two yellow tops and a 1 Fared Cap. The voltage still drops to about 10 volts if not lower when the bass kicks for a few seconds. I'm about to upgrade the alternator and was wondering if the volts remain at 14 volts with a performance alternator or will it also drop considerably as well? What kind of performance should i expect?

i dont know what RF rates there new amps at . but yes the volts will still drop. maybe not as much. its the regulator that plays the role in the volts. very few you can adjust most you cant. check in to a step-up transformer. like a accuvolt.

Batteries and caps will not help if the alternator is too small to charge them. HO alt is the only way to solve the problem. ------------- Support the12volt.com

Another peice of equipment to use is an Accuvolt system from Jacobs. Just a thought

Humm... is this step up converter used on competition shows as well? Or does the alternator solve the hole problem?

some competitors use them to keep a constant 15 or more volts. alternators will help with the ampere. and some with the volt issue you are having. but if you want to maintain a true 14+volts a step-up transformer is what you will need. but buy a new alt first. you will need a good alt to use with a step-up transformer. if you buy a transformer first your stock alt will die early.
