Amp issue, what should I do?

I have a problem, I have everything hooked up and working good except for one of my Amps, it is a Kicker KX200.2, it is driving a single Infinity 1242w Reference series Sub, this is dual voice coil sub which leads to another issue I’ll mention below. Since I haven’t done too much with car audio in a long time (10 years or so at least) most of this is pretty new to me. I wired the sub up in bridged parallel mode (I think it is called parallel) I have the + on the amp is hooked to positive on 1 coil on the sub which is then connecting directly to the other + coil. The negative is the same way. My wiring is all good and should be more than sufficient, as well as a good ground, heat is also not an issue. The crossover selection switch on the amp is set to Lo, and the gain control, bass boost control and crossover controls on the amp are all at about 1/3 up from all the way down right now as I haven’t gotten around to being able to tune it, particularly when the amp shuts down and the red light comes on. This seems to be only an issue when the volume is up pretty good; the amp comes back on when I lower the volume. This Ohms and gain talk (which I don’t get) maybe my problem, also maybe something is also mismatched or incorrectly wired, any suggestions would be much appreciated.

That Kicker stereo amp must have at least a 4-ohm load when bridged.  With your voice coils in parallel, you have a 2-ohm load connected and this will cause the amp to shut down.  Wire each voice coil to its own output channel on the amp, or wire the voice coils in series (amp + to VC1+. VC1- to VC2+, VC2- to amp -) and bridge the amp.  Either way results in the same net power to the woofer.  Then set your gain properly.  Do a search on this forum for several threads discussing ways to do this.

Sounds like the problem, according to the manual for the amp, it is 4 Ohms in Mono.
