Well I am looking to buy a new system....I want something that will hit hard but at the same time i dont want it to sound bad. I have decided (SO FAR) to go with 2 Infinity Reference 12"s, SPECS:

4-ohm, freq 23-400hz, Power range 60-300 RMS(1,000 peak), 93 dB.

My question is what size amp should i get.....i dont want to spend alot on and amp...Im looking for the 100-300 range... If you have any better subs in mind for me please post them....Thanks in advance

For the amp...  look for a continuos RMS rating of about 600.  Your question about subs, that all depends on what you want to spend.  Give us a price range.

That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

That's roughly the size amp you should use, of course you can go lower. Those subs handle 300 watts continuously. Not 1000. Ignore max wattage on amps and subs.

I was just saying shoot for about 600W RMS.  You should probably be using a a mono amp too.  You wire the subs in parallel to give you a 2 ohm load.  That will extract a lot of power from a mono amp.

Thanks for the responses....So you guys are saying get a mono amp...What is the best amp i can get in the 300 and lower price range.....thanks in advance....When shopping around for an amp should i be looking for the RMS watts at 4 ohms or 2 ohms......thanks again

If you go with a 2 channel amp, get something that produces the most power in 4 ohm stereo or bridgeable to 2 ohm mono.. If you go with a mono amp, look at one that is optimized for 2 ohm mono operation.

There are many many amps available to you at low prices, just start searching for them.

Also would it be better to spend alitle more money and get a dual voice coil (even though they have the same RMS and Max wattage).......and would this be a good amp either way

Details:
   » 370 watts RMS x 2 at 4 ohms (440 watts RMS x 2 at 2 ohms)
» 800 watts RMS x 1 in bridged mode (4-ohm stable in bridged mode)
   » variable high-pass/low-pass crossover (40-250 Hz, 18 dB/octave)
» variable bass boost (0-18 dB at 40 Hz) with wired remote level control
   » speaker- and preamp-level inputs
   » Tri-way capable (Tri-Way Crossover required)
   » preamp outputs
   » fuse rating: 35A x 3
» 4-gauge power and ground leads with 150A ANL wafer fuse and holder recommended — wiring and hardware not included with amplifier
   » 22-11/16"W x 2-13/16"H x 11"D
   » warranty: 1 year

the 4 ohm stereo specs are in line with the subs requirements. the only advantage to dvc subs is wiring flexibility.

What brand amp is that?

its a power acoustic.....i also found an audiobahn that has 1000 rms bridged at 2 ohms......

Stay away from Audiobahn.  I haven't really had any experience with Power Acoustic though.  A company like Hifonics might be right up your alley though.

The wiring configuration you have available will not be optimal with that amp. That amp is rated to produce 500 watts by 2 at 2 ohms. With 2 single voice coil 4 ohm subs, you again, need to get an amp that is stable to 2 ohms bridged or 4 ohm stereo.

Here this amp is perfect. https://www.cardomain.com/item/PHOR801

Ok now im confuse.....I need to look for an amp that has a good wattage bridged at 2 ohms......Ill look around thanks for clearing that up dwarren ....also what is the highest wattage I should go up to.....600??

Roughly, you want to match the RMS or continuous power of the subs which in this case is 300. So a mono amp rated at 600 watts at 2 ohms will provide each woofer with 300 watts.

posted_imageIs this the wiring diagram i want to use?? And also what is the best type of amp..i found a sony and power acoustic amps that are 600Wx1@2ohms for around 170$ are these good amps

Sony and A-bahn are in the same low, class. Stay away from them for they are usually grossly over rated in their power out put and realiability is an issue. Power Acoustic is a Mitek brand that equates to the economy line from that company. Can't budget that phoenix gold up above?

Yes, that wiring config would be used in the situation of a mono amp.

Yeah i found that pheonix gold (the exact one for 200) for i think im gonna get that.....Have you had alot of experience with the PG line of amp.....What are the chances that it will over heat....It says its not fan cooled but i dont know if that is an issue....thanks for the fast responses

Not much experience with them, but they do make a good product to dollar ratio in my opinion. Heat shouldn't be a huge issue to so long as there is there proper ventilation around the amp. You aren't stressing the amp with this config.

I am about to start fiberglassing the trunk of my 05 civic....My only question is should i face the subs towards the cabin or towards the rear of the trunk. I would like to know what the pros and cons of both setups would be....Thanks in advance

I like fiberglassing into the rear quarters in the trunk and angle the woofers accordingly.

My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

calculate the woofer sag with this calculator. if the sag is over 5% then you have to point them at a 90 degree angle to keep your subs safe from the pull of gravity.
https://www.accelerator-pedal.com/sag.htm
also read the line that is on there to Adire Audios white paper.

Thanks but that wasnt really what i was looking for.....The question was should the 2 subs face towards the cabin of my car or should they face out towards the rear bumper...(the subs are going to be in the trunk)..They are both going to be fiberglassed facing the same direction but i dont know what direction...I would like to know the pros and cons of facing towards the front of the vechicle vs. facing them towards the rear of the vechicle....thanks

Is this in a coupe or sedan? My buddy's '05 coupe beats harder with the subs facing the rear, but my Civic sedan beats harder with the subs facing up, towards the lid of the trunk (thanks jeffchilcott for the advice!).

Its a coupe...but my firend has a system that sounds better facing the rear seats, so i dont know.....i dont really want to face the subs up.....So i was thinking about facing thme towards the rear seats....If i dont face them toards the rear seats I am definatly facing the ports towards tham.....THanks

If its a coupe, then your best bet is to face the subs toward the rear.
