I am buying another car this summer, it will probably be 99'Toyota Camry 4dr/2dr or 98'Acura integra. I am still not sure which one I like more. But I do know that I want to put a good audio system in it. The only things I think I am going to keep is my deck which is Panasonic CQ-C8401U. What I would like to know is how crazy can I go in RMS Watts with stock electric system. By stock electric system I mean that I want to run max 4gauge wire with stock alternator and no extra batteries because I want to use this car for everyday driving instead of competitions.
So here are my little plans:
I am thinking of buying (2) 12" JLW6 or (2) 12" JLW3 and running them with some amp that will make at least 800watts RMS. I am going to reuse my 1.5 farat cap.
Do you think this will sound louder than 1 12" infinty 1242sub and 500Watts RMS Kenwood amp in a sealed box.
Thank you

Think about it, the alternator is designed to run the electronics for the vehicle, nothing more. So when you add any thing there will be an added out side stress to the car's electrical system. You might get away with it you might not.

The cap will not be beneficial until you have the proper charging system in place. (alternator).

the jl will defenitely sound cleaner & louder. but the stock charging system of both of those cars are probably between 80 to 105 amps, which i feel is not enough for 800 watts. Your best bet is going with a 500 watt class d amp (not so powerhungry amps) pushing 1 12" jl w6 in a ported box. with this set up, you will most likely get away with not upgrading your charging system & you will still have plenty of rich clean bass.

ps - good quality cars you have in mind.

That 'Teggy's alternator only makes about 70-75 amps with a B16 engine. Its the same one Honda puts in the Civics from that year. The Camry would be closer to 100.
