In my 350z i will be running about 1000watts of total power to my sub and speakers. There will be two amps, a diamond audio D7152 running 600x1 @4ohm, and a diamond d7104 running 100x4 @4ohm. Diamond provides a rough estimate on the amperage of each speaker which says it is 100amps for the D7152 running at 600x1 and 66amps running at the 100x4. I believe that this makes the total amperage on my car 166. Will i be able to run these amps on my car alternator/battery or do I need an upgrade of some sort.
Thanks
Ryan
Find out the output of your stock alternator. Then factor in other accessories you might use, like head lights, heater, etc. Your chances are unlikely with that sort of draw.

Wow- if those numbers are accurate, those are some power-hungry amps. Definitely upgrade your alt. Look for one rated at 200+ amps. The big 3 is a must as well- do a search if you're unsure about what this entails.

My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
Since you spent that much money into getting everything of such high quality, you may as whell back them up with a more than powerful electrical system such as a replacement battery for that factory nissan battery, look into the kenetik batterys everyone is talking about, and definately send them an e-mail at
www.mechman.com for a high quality unit.

YES, you will need an upgrade in the alternator department. There is no stock alternator in the world that will handle an ADDITIONAL (potential) 166A load, or even an additional (potential) 100A load... Save yourself the headaches, and do the alternator and Big 3...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
