I want to try to build a ported box for my friend but he has a single cab truck. There is only about 6.5" of depth because he wants to keep the middle seat back up. I was thinking of placing a port on eigther side of the box (It would be a rectangle and not have a slanted back) or making a slot port on the front.
Would there be some cancellation if I placed the port on the side of the box instead of on the same side that the woofer is mounted to?

2.03 - Where should I place the port(s)? If your system calls for the use of ports, these can be placed on any side of the enclosure, once the intended location meets the following requirements: - The exit of the port should be at least one port diameter away from any external surface.
- The entrance of the port should be at least one port diameter away from any internal surface, including the driver.

I plan on making the box really long (38" to 40" wide) but I think I'm going to have to make the front slanted because of the depth of the sub (JL 12 w3v2).
