When I use the JL recommended boxes (ported or sealed) they are showing up as having no dB loss up to 1khz. I also tried modeling them in Bass Box Pro and it showed no loss up to 20khz.

6W0 Specs: https://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_subs.php?series_id=23

Is that right or am I doing something wrong?

You're doing something wrong.  A parameter is missing, probably Le.  This is not very important anyway when it comes to modeling a subwoofer enclosure, since you're dealing with a driver that is used only up to 100 Hz or so.  If Le were specified in those parameters, and you included it in the data, you would find that the driver will perform well past the point you intend to use it.  Some specs give it, some don't.  Nothing to be concerned with.

Le would primarily be of concern when you're modeling a midbass woofer and crossing it with a tweeter.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
