Im in search of a sub system that cost around $200-250. I know thats cheap but its all I can afford. I like alot of bass and was in search of one or two 12" subwoofers and an amp. My only preference to the subwoofers are that its new, and they are nothing my friends can give me crap about like an insignia or something, the amplifier I really dont care about as much as long as its putting power to the subwoofers. I was looking at a kicker sub at ciruit city https://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Kicker-12-Comp-Subwoofer-05C124-/sem/rpsm/oid/117479/catOid/-13093/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do and was wondering if it was an ok deal. Thanks for the help in advance.

good sub for a good price, i have a friend with 2 12's exactly like these and they are great.   make sure you get DUAL 4 OHM voice coils if your gonna go with one amp, so you can run them at 2 ohms, im guessing a mono amp is what your going for?? do you have any idea what im talking about??

alright, just checking, but yah those subs are great for the price, but if you were to spend pretty much the same price and go for the 2 10" comp VR's, i think it will be even more impressive. they are excellent subs, they can handle twice as much as those 12's and they require less space, which is always good. justa  thought tho

That would be a good deal if I could find a deal on a 2 channel amplifier that could put out about 600 watts rms for a decent price. If I could I'd definitely buy the 2 10" kickers.

you wont need a 2 channel amp if you wire them right, buy 2 dual 2 ohm voice coil subs and they will present a 2 ohm load if you wire the voice coils in series and then wire the subs parallel

$150 give or take, I know that cuts down on choices so if that doesnt work out I could just go with the single 12" Kicker that requires 150 watts rms of power. If there are other subwoofers in that price range you recommend Im still in the decision phase so dont be afraid to mention any.

sounddomain has some 2-for deals for the Rockford Fosgate subs: https://www.cardomain.com/item/ROCP112S82PAK

I put 2 of the 10 inch rf P110S4's in my bro's car, with a Power Acoustik 300wrms amp and they sound great.

How bout these? https://www.cardomain.com/item/BOSR12 I know theyre dirt cheap but they have a 250 w rms and I could afford 2 and still have alot of money for an amplifier.

Stay away from Boss.  Very overrated.   Look into THESE.  I have a pair and for the price I paid they are very good.  Get pretty loud and they sound pretty good.  I have no regrets about buying them  They were also extremmely underpowered and they sounded pretty good.  I had them running off a crappy Profile amp,  but I also wouldn't trade in that amp either.  They both did what i wanted for the price I paid.

Yea I was wondering why Boss was so cheap compared to others. Theres one more cheap pair though that i was curious about https://www.cardomain.com/item/POLGNX12DVC. Also what size of amp were you running on them?

I think Ive narrowed it down to the Kicker and Rockford Fosgate Models. It would either be a single 12" C12 Kicker subwoofer and I would then buy another when I have the money, or the Punch 2 10" or 2 12" deal on Car Domain. Which do you think would perform better?

I would go with the Kicker Comp 12". I have 2 of the CVR's, '03 model I believe (with the tribal design, tan colored) and they're loud but at the same time they sound good. I don't know a whole lot about Fosgate subs, but from the ones I heard in person, I wasn't really impressed with them.

I wouldn't get an amp til you get the other sub, if you're planning on using 2.

Yea, Ive asked around today and everyone has said to go with the Kickers. When I buy an amplifier should I get a two channel or a mono?

If you have the money right now, go with a Class D Mono Amp.  Although somewhat expensive, they draw less current, causing less strain on the electrical system.  A Class A/B amp is cheaper but draws alot more current.

Try to stick with a mono.  They are easier to add on to if you put another sub.  The also do draw less current which is also good.  Mono amps were designed to run subs.
