Alright, well now that the Season has drawn to an end for USACi, We are ready to go back to what we love, A very very nice sounding system instead of Pure tone for SPL.

We are going to be making a SQ vehicle using all Kicker Equipment with the exception of the head unit

Here is the list of what I have to work with

Alpine 9855 Headunit
(2) Kicker XS100's Rated power is 1104@1ohm@.041THD nice
(2) Kicker ZR600's 150x2@4ohm@>.04THD no birth sheet
(1) Kicker ZR120    60x2@4ohm@>.04THD no birth sheet

(2) Kicker S12L7's Dual 2's
(SET) Kicker SS65.2   6 1/2 Comps
(SET) Kicker RS65.2   6 1/2 comps

Ok so ovbiously each sub will get its own amp, each set of components can have its own amp, but here is what I am debating

For the front stage I would really like to improve on it over just a set of comps. So I have looked inot getting a matching Mid Bass Driver for the front comps in either a 6 1/2 or 8 inch mid.   Both speakers will be in the door, but will be seperated from each other in fiberglass compartments.

If I do add another speaker to the front stage I would more then likely run the comps, and the Mid Bass driver off the ZR600, and the tweeter's off the ZR120, as of right no the 120 isnt doing anything

I am leaning towards the 8in mid because I intend to have a crossover point of 70hz, thus where I plan to cut the subs Now this may go lower to 60hz, but it entirly depends on if I can get a 6 1/2 MB or 8in MB to play that low and remain undistoted.

I am considering something like the Audiocontrol DQS to equalize all this beyond what the head unit can provide, enev though this head unit has alot of crossover features.

If you are wondering, this is all going into our 98 Honda Civic, along with an Air Ride setup.    Thats Alot of stuff to cram into the trunk of a civic let me tell you!

We are putting a Small case Gm alt on the car, an Irragi alt that can produce up to 300 amps discharge at 1400rpm
(2) Kinetik 2400 power cells in the trunk, and a 1800 up front for starting the vehicle and to provide power for any other accesorys we might add

Let me know any suggestions you can offer, as far as settting this equipment up

I'd plan for stereo mid-bass running off your ZR600 and the comps off the 120.  Use the passive crossovers that came with the comps and high-pass them around 240Hz.  Run the mid-bass between your sub and 240Hz.  You will need a good external crossover a lot more than an EQ.  Sounds like a great plan for a 4-way setup.

Dyohn, what do you think of powering the 8in MB up front with a zr600, and the 6 1/2 comp set up front with a ZR600 and the RS comp set in the rear with the ZR120

The rear stage is for fill, but for a comp built SQ vehicle as well so I must have rear stage,   but would like the front stage to really show off what it has

I dont know if this is what you were intending in your orignal post or if you just made me think of something completly difrent that I really like   haha

By he way, from my understanding the Audiocontrol DQS is a EQ/Crossover/Line driver all in one, do you think I shoudl go with something diffrent for my crossover points?

I am looking for something that has at least 4 channels of output all fully adjustable, or 3 mid/high ranges and 1 sub output                  all independantly adjustable with a selectable crossover point and slope and attentuation

Thanks for the suggestion, and hope to hear more

Hey Jeff.  The DQS is a very powerful equalizer.  The DQX and DQXS combines EQ functions with a 3-way crossover.  If you can afford one, go with the DQXS.  You'll need at least a sub output, two high-pass outs for your comps, and a bandpass output for the mid bass (which is exactly how the DQXS is setup.)

If you've got two of the 600's sure go with those for both the mid bass and the front mains.  The MB Quart mid bass drivers were actually brought over to them from Dynaudio (or at least the design was) so they probably sound pretty good, although I've not heard them in a car.  How much do you want to spend for your mid-woofers, and how much mounting space can you give them?

Everything in this vehicle is going to be using Kicker products..........It is an intended install to showcase the newest line of kicker speakers.

Space is really not an issue with the SS series speakers, I am just going to have to rework the inside of the door panels to seperate the 6 1/2 and the 8,   I have spoke to kicker and they recommended with a frequency of 200-250hz and up for the 6 1/2 I should give them roughly .18cuft and run the 8in in the rest of the space provided.

I will look into the audiocontrol unit you suggested, money is really not an issue, if it were I would not be trying to find amps that are 3-4 years old that are in perfect condition, and then on top of it sending them to kicker to be fully tested and re-built.

I only need one more amp and I should be getting that today or tomorrow, I have some good leads on where I can find one for under $300

The 6 1/2's are roughly $450 for the set, and the 8in MB is roughly $200       The rear speakers the RS components are roughly $150

the 6 1/2's I am looking at are Kicker SS65.2's, the 8's are SSMB8's, and the rears are RS65.2's

Thanks for the advice, I will be getting lots of pics as the install starts in the next few weeks
