I installed a new head unit. I did it by splicing the old harness (from a old sony HU) and wired a JVC head unit. Now when i pull my knob for my lgihts out, only my front outside lights come one, but if i push the knob in so the dim (running lights) are supposed to be on, my dash lights come on but my running lights dont. So if i fiddle with the knob i can get both the dash and outside lights to come on. Any idea what this is. I checked the fuses for my lgihts, they are fine. I drive a 1989 FOrd Bronco II 4WD. I tried looking at a wiring diagram and its gibberish to me. IM a noob at this. Any help will be greatfull

You say you fiddle with the switch and it works- that points to a bad switch.

did you hook up your illumination wire? Disconnect it, if that dosn't fix it, run to the junk yard and grab a used switch.

No, your dimmer wires will not be necessary for normal operation. Some vehicle harnesses have these wires, but few aftermarket radios have a connection for them- only the illumination wire. Tape them off, replace your switch, and be happy. ------------- My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
