I installed my new amp and sub into my 2002 yukon today. the sub is a kicker comp vr 8 inch installed into the factory sub enclosure. the amp is a lanzar vibe 360. the sub is wired parallel creating a 2ohm load and is only on one channel of the amp that will provide 150w rms at 2ohm (can not bridge amp and keep it 2ohm stable)
The problem is this.. the sub is on and sounds decent but is not hitting nearly as hard as it should. sounds about like the factory sub used to sound.
My question: I tapped the wire going to the 2 rear speakers to install my line output converter. Since this car has a factory amp and the wires that i tapped into were coming off the factory amp, could this make them unsuitable for use with a LOC.. and cause my sound problem?
Should i tap the wires before they go into the amp?
i would appreciate any help.
thanks!
First, I suggest you build your own enclosure- one that's the proper size/strength for your sub. Otherwise you're just setting yourself up for failure. Also, rather than only using one channel of your amp, connect each of the voice coils to their own seperate channel. Each voice coil will still see the same amount of power they're recieving now.
For signal, you need to tap the factory sub wires to connect your LOC. This will give you the signal you're looking for.
