Hey everyone, i have a dual voice coil sub and was wondering how i should wire it, i have found an amp but not sure if it can run 8 ohms when the coils are wired in series, any help appriciated thanks
Almost any amp will run at 8 ohms. You didn't mention what you have, but issues arise from running a lower than nominal impedence (less than 4 ohms) rather than higher. A higher impedence will help the amp stay cool, and aid in keeping THD (distortion) down. The downside would be less power produced.

My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
Thanks for the quick reply, i have a clarion SRW1283 sub which is 300rms, i am confused about what kind of amp to get for the power needed, any suggestions?
Answer: A two channel amplifier, that when bridged, will output 500 watts into a 4 ohm bridged load (for example, this Kicker SX 500.2 which could later be used to power a set of 4 ohm components at 2 X 125 watts).
With your 8 ohm woofer you would get 250 watts. In the future when you are due for a system upgrade, you can use this amp to power a set of components and buy a mono amp and higher output DVC 4 ohm sub. Then you would be able to parallel-wire the sub to 2 ohms for use with the mono amp.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
thanks for the reply, so if i had a 500wrms amp it would not reck the sub or anything, i wanna get clear bass and doesnt sound like it is struggling for power or anything, its only going in a civic sedan
