Well i just installed an amp and some subs in a 2003 Ford Ranger 4 door. He has a stock deck so i used the line converters so he has RCA's. But the problem now is when the radio/CD player is on and you turn off the truck and take the keys they radio/CD player still plays untill you hit the power button then it turns off. It also does it when you have the keys in ACC. and then take the keys out it still stays on. If you turn the radio off and then turn off the truck and take the keys out it will turn off. I used the Yellow/Blk 12V power Switch for the turn on lead for the RCA Converter. So if anybody could give me any clues on where to start looking for or knows what it is i would appreciate it. what did you use the switched power lead for the hu? and connected to the loc? what did you use for the remote turn on for the amp? you maybe back feeding power the hu from the loc but i can't see how unless you connected something wrong or maybe a diode is needed. give some more info on what you did and connected to the yellow/blk and that is for the hu? the yellow/blk

The yellow/blk wire is the stock 12v switch for the HU in the wiring harness. I spliced the 12V switch with the remote turn on for the amp. If i do need a diode what type/kind would i get.

Did this problem start only after installing the amp? Disconnect your amp and see if the problem goes away- if it does, the problem is in your wiring, or the equipment you added. You used the yellow/black for the switched on the RCA converter? Huh? Most LOC's don't have a switched lead. Some may have current sensing, and provide an amp turn on, but that would be connected to the amp, and not the radio. I hope you mean you connected yellow/black to the amp's remote terminal. Can you turn on the radio without the key? If you disconnect the amp, and you can turn on the radio without the key, there's a problem in the truck's accessory circuit, or the radio itself. Try another unit- otherwise you may have some more troubleshooting/rewiring ahead. Good luck. ------------- My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.

you may want to try a switch curcuit in the fuse box other than the hu. your amp maybe backfeeding power to the hu. will it shut off after awhile of the truck being off? i would try another switched curcuit first befor the use of a diode. just upgrade the fuse you use for the supply of the amp remote and geepherder is right that loc shouldn't have a remote turn on it does not require it. 5 amps more than the origanal fuse will be what you want nothing greater. but go over your wiring befor you connect that to another cucuit to make sure its not self induced ------------- JUST ONE MORE AMP!!!

Do not use a higher rated fuse anywhere in the vehicle. If there's a problem in the accessory circuit, correct the problem, or simply rewire from the ignition harness.

ther shouldn't be any problem with the ignition unless they direct shorted something to ground. if the problem wasn't there before its something in the new equipment or wiring. i'm not saying to over look anything but chasing ghost dont make sense. yes don't upgrade the fuse i miss posted that my bad. but theres power getting back to the hu and i bet its at the amp or remote wire via to amp ------------- JUST ONE MORE AMP!!!

yes the problem did happen after i installed the amp and LOC. I ran the remote wire right of the switch 12v radio power wire. I also never did install a fuse in the remote turn on wire for the amp so do you think that could be it or should i just disconnect the remote turn on and plug it in a empty ACC. fuse slot?

I wouldn't worry about putting a fuse in there- that's not what the problem is. Did you try our above suggestions yet? You can try using a different source, but unless the radio accessory is malfunctioning there would be no need. Have you checked it?

No i have not tried to use a different power source yet. When geepherder said to "Disconnect your amp and see if the problem goes away" does he mean just unplug the remote turn on lead from the amp or does he mean unplug the RCA's also? Or what does he mean?

no disconnect the power and ground also .no need for the rca's. but like we said you need to make sure you have this wired right. the only thing that should need a remote turn on is the amp not the loc. (convertor). just take off the wire you connected to the yellow and blk. then if it still does it you will have to check the deck out. remove it from the car and connect it to another car or 12 volt dc power source with a constant and switch power. if you still have the problem its the deck. if not take a look at the vechiles switched power curcuit/ignition. and repair any faults ------------- JUST ONE MORE AMP!!!
