amp keep cutting off

hey guys simple question. I think there is something wrong with my channels, every time I hit a bump either the left or the right side cut off or nothing will sound anymore on the highs, the bass keeps hitting then I hit the amp and u can hear it again, i know its not the power because the light stays on and most of the time some channels give out. is it something easy I can fix by sodering myself or do I need to send it in for repair, its an old PPI the chromes ones, i forgot the model number its a 4 channel 450W...thanks in advance

When you say the power light stays on most of the time dose it go off some times? Also remount the ground just because the power stays on doesn’t mean you can’t have a bad ground. Another thing to do is put another set of rca cables on and see what happens. But if all this fails then you most likely have a bad amp. Dose your amp have a protection mode light if so dose it come on? If its bad you can take it to a local TV/VCR repair shop most of them fix car audio as well.

I do have a good ground, each component in the car has its own ground and everything is 4gauge wire i peeled the paint off the metal and made sure its good. what happens is when I hit a bump sometimes my back speakers go out or they sound muffled very low or sometimes the front ones.. when they sound muffled i put the stereo at a very high volume and they get like cleared up they sound loud again, but if i keep doing that mostly likely i'll blow em soon since I put it high then all of a sudden they come back on. i know its not the rcas cause they are new and i changed em twice already, if its just a simple thing to solder can I do it at home? i have a good solder iron

Could also be the head unit if you have a portable cd player you might want to hook that up to the rca’s instead of the head unit. Drive around and see if you still have the same problem if you do then it’s the amp and not the head. As far as the amp goes I’m not an electronics major to know what’s wrong with it to tell you whether or not you can fix it your self. But I would first test the head unit before saying the amp is bad.
