Fuse keeps blowing + gain?

I just put in my new kenwood kac-9152d, it hits hard, but when i turn it up the inline fuse blows in less than a minute. When i replace the fuse, it plays but in after awhile the fuse blows again. I got a 8 gauge line with 30 amp fuse. Also do i put the gain on 4 since i have 4 volt outputs?

Hey JDM. After going to https://www.justkenwood.co.uk/stock01/kac9152d.asp I found more info on the amp. Just to be curious what is your ohm load on the amp? Here are some specs of the amp.

1,800 Watts max power

500 Watts x 1 max (4 ohms) RMS

900 Watts x 1 (2 ohms) RMS

900 Watts x 1 (1 ohms) RMS If you go here Power and Ground you will find out how many amps/watts 8 guage wire can handle. By the looks of it. I'd suggest you use atleast 4 guage power and ground wires. Say you have the amp at a one ohm load then I'd suggest 2 guage wire. I also saw some info on the amp that may be another factor why the fuse keeps blowing. You say you are running a 30 amp fuse? Well the amp has 2 30 amp fuses on it, correct? That means you should match that with a 60 amp fuse on your fuse holder. You should have a fuse about 18'' from the battery with a 60 amp fuse and one before the amp with ....guess what 60 amp fuse.

I got it wired to a 2ohm load. And yea it has 2 30amp fuses. So are you trying to say that i need 2 60 amp inline fuses? Also u think 4 gauge and 60 fuse will fix my problem?

I'd try the 60 amp fuse in your inline fuse holder. Using smaller wire with a higher amp/watts can heat the wire up a lot of even cause it to melt.. You get better current flow from bigger guage wire. Just try to 60 amp fuse and tell us your results.

Do they have 60 amp for the small bus fuse types. I dont have the big glass kind. I went to autozone and could only find 30 fuses.

i mite as well buy a new 4gauge kit. Is the power acoustik 4 gauge kit any good? they are $15 online. What about the swx kit from summitracing.com.        But do yall think there can be anything else that may b causein the problem?

As long as the wires in the amp kit are long enough for your purposes, you'll be fine.  That's definitely the problem- your amp is drawing more than the 30 amp fuse will allow.

I'm surprised no one has even touched on the gain question. Do a search on this site for "gain" and you'll find out the proper way to set your gain on that amp. As it is now, it sounds like it is not done correctly and you have no clue how to do it the right way.

As to the fuse/wire gauge side of things, looks like you have been steered in the right direction so far.
