alright i just got a new deck an alpine cda-9851 and i had a panasonic deck before that. so i put the new deck inand my subs werent even moving unless i turned my amp all the way up. so my buddy pointed out that my old deck like most have 4volt pre-outs and this new deck only has 2 so do i need a line driver to get it back sounding good?

Hey g-money. Is there a subwoofer control on the deck. Say on the alpine d310. the control for the subwoofer goes from 0 to 15.  The voltage of the rca in some terms just means your signal is going to be stronger and more likely clearer. Try reading the owners manual for the deck and see if you can find anything out about a subwoofer control or setting.

i have checked the owners manual and is says nothing and the sub lever goes to from 0-15 , if that isnt the problem what could it be... because this deck is alot better then my old one and my subs arent working very good and didnt change anything just new decks

Well, you have just stepped down two volts from mfr. specs, so you will need to readjust your gains accordingly. You may simply have to adjust the gains higher. Just do it right so as not to damage your speakers.

By the way, what amp(s) are you using?
