Hello all,

I am designing an enclosure for a regular cab truck and planning to install a single Infinity Perfect 12.1 subwoofer.  Can anyone tell me what an acceptable minimum clearance would be between the polepiece vent in the magnet and the back of the enclosure?

Thanks in advance.

If it's a square box- speaker baffle is parallel with the back wall, I'd say a 1/2 inch or so.  If you're building a box to go behind the seat (wedge shape), then the slope of the woofer itself will be enough and the top of the magnet can touch the back wall.

Generally you want at least 1/2" of clearance, 3/4" prefered.

I prefer 3/4" at the absolute minimum. More would be better.

I've heard you want to have the width of the vent. So if the vent is 2" wide you want 2" of space.
