Does anybody think that Capacitors really do work for stopping your headlights from dimming so much? I am not sure if i should get it or not. I have to Alpine SWR-1042D powered by a Rockford Fosgate T10001bd. When ever a real hard bass line hits my lights dim out. I was wondering if a cap would help or should i just save up money and but a higher amperage alternator.

Do the "big 3" upgrade first. You may need a HO alternator also. Forget the cap.

If it only dimms durring parts of a song and only a little it will be one of the few times a capacitor will help. But the big 3 is always a plus.

A stiffening capacitor is not designed to keep your lights from dimming. They are designed to help the AMPLIFIER maintain high output levels during transient demands. The only way to supply more power to a system that demands it is by using an alternator when the car is running and/or batteries when the engine is off. A cap may accidentally help with dimming lights in some instances, but that is not what it is designed to do and it will not keep up with any continuous power demands more than a second long.....
