First thing, i know this is silly but you never know. DO YOU HAVE YOUR KEY IN THE CAR AND TURNED TO ACC.?
Forget about all the wires accept the YELLOW, RED, and BLACK wires, those are the power.Make sure you install them correctly. Check the fuse on the back of your Head-Unit, also there's a fuse on your fuse box (somewhere in your car) for the OEM unit aswell. If that does not solve your problem. might want to use the volt meter to see you're getting any power in. If so, then your head unit got problem....hmmm get a new one i guess or return it if you just got it.
ok i checked the fuse and it was blown so i replaced it so now the cd player turns on when the key is turned to acc but no sound comes out of the speakers but when i start the car it works, wahts wrong?

Are you using an amplifier or are you connecting your speakers directly to the head unit?
If you have an amplifier, check that you have the remote turn on lead of the amplifier connected to the amp remote lead of the head unit and that you have the amplifier's main power lead connected to the positive side of the battery and not some other 12V+ source (ie: ignition).
If you have your speakers connected to the head unit, make sure you have the memory lead of the head unit (usually yellow) connected to a constant 12V+ source (ie: positive side of battery) and not to the ignition as you could possibly have it from what you described.
hahaha...sounds like you have loosely speaker wires connected. probably the same reason the fuse blew. Spend a few bucks buy those wire connectors (not sure the exact name but you know what i'm talking about) Make every wire connections clean and tight.
try that and let me know.
