Today I blew my Power Acoustiks MOFO 15" and now I have to get a new sub. I have read a lot of good things about the RE subs and was thinking about getting a SX 15. I am just wondering, will my Hifonics TX1505D be to much for the SX since it is 1000w and my TX1505D is 1500w at 1ohm, or should I just get another amp that is 1000 watts at 1 or 4 ohms. I really don't want to get a new amp since I'm running low on cash, but I will if I have to.

well if you are going to get the duel voice coil then you have a perfect match. you can wire in series or parallel to get a 2ohm load witch makes the amp put out 1000w so you are set to go. and RE subs are some of the best up there with JL and Adire. actually RE works with Adire to make there subs. it's a perfect match.

Thanks for the responses! On RE's website it says that all SX's are dual 2ohm. On the diagrams here on 12volt, it says that dual 2 ohm subs are wired for 1 and 4 ohms.

aw crap i didnt see that. sorry about that buddy.
well anyway you should be fine overpowering the sub by a little. you can overpower a sub by 25% without having to worry about it to much. Hifonics amps have a blown up power rating but not that much. I'm guessing that that amp puts out 1200 to 1380 watts or so. so you sound be fine if you do it at 1ohm. and if you are looking for the sq side you can wire it for 4ohms and be fine, gust have to set your gains right as you are supposed to do anyway. good luck
