Hello all, this is my first post and I had a good question. I recently purchased a McIntosh MC4000M 6 channel amplifier from a friend and I called McIntosh and spoke to one of their techs and he said that it would be ok to use this amp with the 8 volt pre-amp output of an Eclipse CD8455 Headunit. This was information I found out before I commited to purchasing this amp from my friend. I ordered an owner's manual for the amplifier and it says that input sensitivity is .3- 2 volts. Will the 8 volt from my Eclipse headunit work with it or do I have to find a different amp solution?

Thanks.
-Jason

The tech is right, they wouldn't lie about this (especially a Mcintosh tech). You will just have to be meticulous when setting the gains. In fact they may not even need to be moved more than a hair.

That is a really nice amp, what car is it going in to and what speakers have you chosen? Oh, and if you dislike the amp for some reason or another I'd be happy to take it off your hands.posted_image

I have MB Quart QSD 216's going in the front, I was planning on bi-amping these and using all 4 100 watt channels through the Q crossover to gain full adjustability to tone down the tweeter a little and I think that I am going to be running my Eclipse 8455 with the 3-way output setting. For a sub, I am thinking about an IDQ 10" or 12" unless I can get away with using each of the 300 watt x 1 sections of my amp to each voice coil of a dual 4 ohm v.c. sub.

Oh yea, it's going into a 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon. I had the Q's in a 2004 WRX Sedan with a Memphis 150 x 2 amp previously off of an Alpine 9835.
