Hey everyone. When I woke up couple of days ago and was leaving to go to work it was 6 degrees. Kind of extreme for connecticut, but it happens. This goes out to all you canadians too. Can damage happen to drivers when its too cold? I know electronics looove the cold, well heat is there enemy anyway, but what about moving things like speakers and especially subwoofers. I personally turned the bass to liek 1/4 then 15 minutes into my drive (car has been running for ~30 minutes and was nice and warm, I turned it to half, and later back to full, and everything was fine. But I am wondering if anyone hopped in there frezzing car, started banging their subs and had anything bad happen? does this happen? thanks guys.

-----edit------
I am talking 6 Fahrenheit, which is maybe -15 or so C for you Celcius peeps since I know this is a worldwide forum.posted_image

Yes it is hard on the subs and pretty sure the speakers. Had a pair of Rockford Fosgate series 1. The surround started cracking. =

ya, its a very common practise for me to remote start my truck for 5-10min, stereo dosn't come on till i hop in, then i gradually turn it up to a good listening volume, never cranked in the morning, wayyyy to cold, , the afternoon is when its more reasonable to listen to the tunes loud.  Who likes 120 db of tunes at 8 am anyways??

As long as you watch your volume til you get some heat you'll be alright. I live in interior Alaska. I have never had a problem with my speakers due to cold per say, but I don't crank them first thing in the morning either. Average winter temp up here is -60 below. We use special wiring cords just to plug our vehicles in. Anything requiring movement in extreme cold needs to have heat for movement.

There's no such word as cant.
You can do anything, if you set your mind to it.

Get a remote start and that will solve it a little. So that way it will benifit your speakers, car, and you.
