Yesterday, I installed an amplifier and connected it to the subwoofer, it played fine while I was in my driveway. About 5 minutes after I started driving away, the subwoofer paused, continued playing, repeated pause and play a few time, then it stopped playing. I came back, checked the fuses, grounds, and power connections, nothing was wrong, that i noticed. A friend suggested I try and exchange the amp, so i did. After replacing the amplifier the sub still will not make a sound. The subwoofer is a 12" infinity reference, the first amplifier was 550 watts max bridged, the second is 1000 watts max bridged both at 4 ohm. The subwoofer was just playing fine with no clipping. What could cause the subwoofer to stop playing?

Did you check and make sure the wires to the sub were connected? You can test the sub with a battery to see if it moves when you touch the wires.

That was it. A wire from the sub in the sub box popped off.
