ok ive been wondering what the "Q" adjustment on my amp,deck,eq does? i have an eclipse 5444 deck and it has 3 settings (Q1=slow Q2=normal Q3=sharp)...can anybody explain what "Q" does?

i asked a jl rep to properly explain that to me and i've taken electronics courses in high school voc and college and nothing he said made any sense to me in other words get a dictionary and read the manuel i've played with them and i havent heard any drastic changes in sound quality but if u are going to tune your amp using an osciliscope  then u can see a frequency change

The "Q" rating in a parametric equalizer is the rate of change of the envelope.  Basically a higher Q means a "faster" rate of change, creating a narrower adjustment band on either side of the EQ center frequency setting.
