are these amps all they are cracked up to be, I  have been told they are 1 ohm stable is this true

They are not 1 ohm stable. I have installed these before and so has a fellow Alpine installer and we both had better luck when they run in a 2 ohm load. Anything lower and they shut down into protection mode.

I love alpine amps, they are very powerful and clean.  I ahev the MRV-1507, and that pushes my 2 type-r's like nobody's business.  My friend has the new alpine class d mono-block MRD-M500 and it is a very effiecient amp that i highly reccomend.  All around alpine amps are a good move, powerful and clean.

thank you both for your input I have decided to go with 2 of them instead of risking trying to run a 1 ohm load, i'll let you know how i go
