After Friday night the power light on my amplifier will not turn on. I’ve checked the fuses on the power wire, and the two on the amp itself, they are all fine. I checked the voltage at the amplifier with a DMM, when my truck is on it runs at about 14.4 , when off it runs at about 12.5. The amplifier is a Sony 1000 watt 2/1 channel amplifier. I’m using it bridged with one 12” infinity reference.

Is the sub still playing? If not, you can also check the remote wire at the amp, and make sure that's getting voltage.

Don't forget to check the ground for the amp. Use your meter across the ground terminal and the main power terminal to check for 12 volts or higher. Do the same with the ground and the remote turn on lead too. If they are both getting 12 volts or higher, the amp may be in protection mode. It can do this from a short circuit on either the input or output wires or if it is overheating.

I had this problem once, and as sparkie said, check your ground. Use an ohm meter to make sure you get no resistance. If you don't have a good ground, your system will shut off/not work and have a mind of its own.

The remote wire reads less than 1 volt. Can i just replace the remote wire from my deck, would that most likely fix the problem? Is there something else you would suggest?

Yell at it and tell it to smarten up! If you are only receiving one volt, stop right now. Remove the cd player from the dash and remove the remote on wire there. Meter the line on the back of the deck, what is the voltage? If it is 1 volt, into the service shop the cd player goes. If it is 12 volts, then you have a massive problem with the remote on wire somewhere in the vehicle. Run a new remote on wire. If you do not want to get the deck repaired, run a new remote on wire with a fuse at the deck end of it with a 2 amp or so fuse in it. Connect it to the ignition wire of the cd player. ------------- Top Secret, I can tell you but then my wife will kill me.
