Im running a single Kicker Solo X 10" Powered by 1 SoundStream PCA2000D's. The thing is, im looking for a ported box that is already tunned at the correct frequencys. (SPL). Everywhere I go there is not a single site or shop that would make the box. Is there any way to order a box that is for all types of cars and not having to buy a custom box? Thx -Jeff

You just contradicted yourself, I think. There's not a single shop that would make the box, is there anyway to not have to buy a custom box? If you have to buy a custom box, then that means there is a shop that can make it. My vote goes to the custom box. If you don't want to pay someone else, buy the materials and build it yourself.

Not to mention if you are going to be using a soloX (the $1000 flagship sub from kicker if Im not mistaken), then I cant think of any regular pre-fab box that would hold up to the kind of pressure that thing will produce. If you are going to spend the money on a sub like that then it would be somewhat of a waste to throw it in just any quickie box. Spend the money on a custom or build it yourself, you wont regret it in the end.

Keep in mind that the box can still be fairly simple in design, like a prefab box would be. It doesn't have to be custom-fit to the car or fiberglassed or anything else extra special. But it DOES have to be built specifically for that subwoofer so that it has the right amount of rigidity, airspace, port volume and port opening area. The builder does not have to be the designer; this can be designed by someone else and spec'd out. The builder just has to follow the specs as laid out. The same is true for ALL vented enclosure/subwoofer combinations. ------------- Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

If I may suggest. In my last conversation with Kicker on the Solo-X, I wouldn't suggest this sub except for competition type output. In his words, sounds like crap with anything except for sine sweeps and burps. I definitely wouldn't recommend it without a whole lot o' juice and a severely braced up box (so you don't waste the energy output on flexing enclosure)

If we are really talking about a Solo-X, i would recomend doubling up on the walls, two peices of 3/4in MDF ATLEAST, that thing will do some serious damage. And as far as the port goes, Kicker should give you the exact size of the port to be tuned at i think 45hz(but dont quote me) and the amount of airspace needed.
