Hey everyone. I have found an Orion 1200D online for $179 plus $25 shipping. Thats a 1200w RMS Orion monoblock amp for 204 bucks. Orion is good stuff, right? The only reason its so cheap is because it has been refurbished...what do you guys think? That 1200w is at 1 ohm, but my 2 SVC 4 ohm 12's can only be cut down to a 2 ohms on a mono, so I would get the 2ohm rating of 725w RMS. That would hit much better than the 400w I'm working with now. I was on the verge of buying it, but I thought that I would ask how everyone felt about buying refurbished gear...I don't want it to blow up on me in a month. Ideas?

Cool, thats what I thought, sort of. The same place has a Hifonics BX1205D, brand new, for $184, 900w RMS mono at 2 ohms. That  one looks like better deal, yeah?

Go for it. I have a factory refurbed JBL 600.1, the thing works perfect. My friend has a Kenwood refurb that he has also had no problems with. In many cases refurbed items are tested more thoroughly that new ones.

It really depends on whether you trust refurbished products. Can you send it back if it doesn't work? If you cant send ir back I would pass

I agree with pimpin. most times they put a new board in and test thoroughly. they don't want to fix it agian. I have sold a hand full of concept referbs with out any troubles. just make sure you have some recource should it fail.
