Hey guys.  I need a lot of help here.  I just got a 1994 Chevy Corsica with low miles and my old beater Buick has a nicer CD stereo in it that I'd like to put into the Chevy.  The wiring on the stereo unit, JVC KD S6250, has acceptable wire labeling so I know what everything is on the back of the stereo.  My main problem is that I don't know what all the wires from the Corsica are.  I've reseached the wiring colors on the net but have gotten various results and I have 2 or 3 extra wires. The speaker wiring was easy so I don't need any info on that. So in the photo below here's what I'm looking at...

The wires coming from the bottom of the pic are from the stereo (yellow - 12v memory [it had the memory and illumination wired to it from the Buick], black - ground, red - 12v ignition and blue - remote).  The wires from the top are obviously the Corica wires. Ignoring the speaker wires - they are, from left, black and grey (wrapped together with tape), black, yellow, orange and brown.  I had it wired once where the stereo would accept a CD and eject it but no power or lights.  Also I've had to pull the fuse on the car for courtesy lights, stereo, warning bell and ABS because I think that the unfinished wiring is causing the warning bell to continue ringing, even with the keys out.  I'm getting pretty frustrated and this stuff is making me feel pretty dumb. The stereo still won't operate with the fuse in...I didn't forget to try that! hehe

Here are my main questions:

How do I wire this stuff correctly?

My next step is to add an amp.  For my power, remote and ground wiring to the amp, can I just splice these wires to the Corica wires for the stereo? (The directions say that I need to install an 8 gauge wire with a 25 amp fuse from the car battery to the amp.)

So now you all know how clueless I am. hehe.  I sincerely appreciate your help! Thank you!!!

To adress your first question, "How do I wire this stuff correctly?", you can wire the original factory stereo plug back to the bare wires.  (You never should have cut off the factory harness.)  Then go to your local car stereo shop and pick up a wiring harness for your car.  Now you can match color for color on this harness to the JVC harness, and simply plug it into the car.  If it won't power up, check the fuses until you find the culprit.

For your amp, you need to run 8 gauge power and ground like it says in the instructions.  Run your remote wire from the remote output of the deck back to the amp.
