Hey yall (Merry Christmas).

I have a original Honda cd changer to install into a '97 Civic.  The changer came with the following:  (1) large bracket to install it into the trunk, (2) "L" brackets to put the changer onto the large bracket, (4) small screws to attach the "L" brackets on the changer, (4) nuts to attach the "L" brackets onto the large bracket, and (4) bolts to attach the large bracket to the trunk.

I did the following:  I attached the "L" brackets to the changer with the 4 small screws, and then attached the "L" brackets to the bracket with the 4 nuts.  Then I was about to attach the large bracket to the 4 holes in the trunk, but I don't have any of the nuts for the bolts (no pun intended please:).  For the holes in the trunk, there's a hole in each spot, and then a rectangular hole next to it.  Does this allow me to squeeze my finger in there and attach the nut...or am I missing something here?  First I thought the bolts would just fit in the hole without any nuts, but I think they need something else because they'll fall out of the hole.

Any ideas?  Thanks guys!

The factory changers have the bolts through the trunk floor and the nuts are attached to the bolts from the outside of the vehicle.

hmmm....I didn't even mention that the bracket installs the changer underneath the rear deck...right under the passenger rear speaker.

so any ideas on how to get it in the rear deck?  I was told that it might  just screw in without nuts for the bolts, but that's not the case....the bolts just fall out.  I realize that I can just get nuts for them, but they don't look real simple to install...that's why I feel like I'm missing something.

You may have to remove the back portion of the rear deck  ( which is a real pain in the rear ) as are the 2001 + Civic's.

dang, it seems like civics have so many complications when it comes to audio... 96-98 with keyless entry, my problem with kicks and ECU, insufficient(imo) room in factory slot for front speakers, and now this. sheesh posted_image
