i made a custom box for my subs to fit behind the seats. the box is sealed and has a 3/4" separate in middle of box i was wondering how would it sound better sealed or ported the box is like a wedge 2 type enclosure 46"long 15" tall bottom width is 9" and top is 8" and i used 3/4" MDF wood the speakers im going to put in it are Kenwood Excelon KFC-XW1002DVC and the amp im going to use is a Kenwood Excelon KAC-X811D what do you guys think should i port it or keep it sealed. thanx in advance
From what I can tell, there are no specs available for this sub, so there is no way to know how they will sound in that size box. Usually a box that small would be much better sealed. If you were to vent it, you would need an incredibly long port which would, in turn ,eat up valuable internal space. My suggestion though would be to dedicate the entire box for one good sub. You will get much lower responce and require a little less from your amp.

My wife will never understand why, lucky for her!
should i be concern of the subs hitting the back of the seats? and does anyone know where i can get grills for these subs? thanx
YES! You can damage your cone or overheat the coils by binding it up. You can buy grills anywhere. The best place to look of course is ebay. I bought my entire system on ebay and couldn't be happier.

the manual that came with the subs says that the recommended box specs are 0.8 cubic ft. sealed and 1.0 cubic ft. ported with a 3" dia. and a 4"length
