so my car got broken into, and they cut my stereo wiring harness, now ive followed the12volt vehicle wiring and ive got a couple of wires that are double, should i be hooking both wires to my new deck harness or do i only need one? i dont wanna start blowing fuses everywhere, any help is appreciated, thanks graham

I dont think there should be double of any wires. The speaker wires will be the same color but one will have a stripe. If I were you I wouldnt hook two into one spot because that doesnt seem right. What kind of car and deck do you have.

93 Nissan 240SX, clariondxz855mp deck, i didnt think i should be hooking up two, but there are a couple of only 2 or 3 wires

If you mean 2 yellow wires from the clarion harness, this is normal. If your factory harness is missing, you need to test the wires with a multimeter to see what's what.

yeah i know the clarion has 2 yellows and why they are there, just wondering about whats coming out of my dash, if i get in there with a multi meter, what do i need to set it to and what do i look for?? thanks for any help

Set to DC volts, on a scale that can easily read 12 volts. Touch the black probe to ground (cigarette lighter rim, outside of antenna, etc.), touch the positive probe to your wires one at a time. When you find a wire you suspect is the constant, turn on the parking lights and see if the reading changes. If it does not, this is your constant (connect to yellow). Now test for the wire that only has power with the key turned- this is your switched (connect to red). Take the black wire of the new radio directly to ground behind the dash. Now for the speakers- set the meter to resistance, and test pairs of wires until you get a reading of around 4 ohms. Touch a small battery to the wires and listen for a pop to identify which speaker it is. If the cone moves out toward you, the wire touching the positive battery terminal is positive, the other negative. If the cone pulls in away from you, it's the other way around. Do this until you identify all the speaker wires. If you can't find any speakers there, you may have a factory amp, and you can test the wires there, or just run new wires to the speakers. You wont read 4 ohms when you test for speakers. that is the imppeadance of the speaker not the resistance.

You can also use a 9volt battery to test for speaker wiring.
